Harvest

Hand harvested fruit from a Pinot Noir vineyard in Waipara from 31st March – 9th April 2009.

• TA: 5.8 g/l

• pH: 3.45   

Cellar & Bottling

We crushed most of the grapes and left them on their skins for 48 hours before pressing. 19% of the grapes were left as whole clusters and underwent a carbonic maceration for added complexity. The remainder of the juice was fermented in a mixture of tanks and barrels.

Wine

This Rose fermented by native and commercial yeasts in a range of fermentation vessels using a range of winemaking techniques to create a serious complex wine which can be enjoyed on its own or matched with a range of foods.  Perfect summer evening drinking.

To ensure quality and uniformity this wine is a single batch bottled under a screw cap closure. We regard bottle variation as an unacceptable “thing of the past”.

Growers’ Series – Muddy Water Growers Series is the name we use for  grapes not grown on our estate vineyards. Muddy Water Estate vineyards are now farmed organically and will achieve full organic certification in 2010.

"Made from Pinot Noir with a portion going through carbonic maceration. The nose is nicely lifted showing raspberry, floral and a hint of tropical fruit characters. The palate is well weighted and finely textured with perfectly pitched acidity and a pleasant refreshing finish. The wine is reasonably full yet remains lively and sleek. The dry palate (4 g/l) makes this a lovely crisp wine to drink."
